The Home Depot

The Home Depot partnered with Pivotal Retail Group to create program oversight and management for the new Consolidated Reset initiative. Prior to this program, THD was experiencing high transit costs, tollgate violations, unclear communication paths, and inadequate planning and execution.

Pivotal served as the change management agent by assembling an 80-person team of embedded employees that helped plan and execute departmental resets in accordance with the new timeline and rollout schedule.  This project planning and execution program provided implementation oversight for 48,000 store-level projects annually.

Pivotal supported THD through planning and execution which produced enormous results for the retailer.

Through planning, the Pivotal team assisted with the following:

  • CBA and tollgate development and management.
  • Scope definition and resource forecasting.
  • Proof of Concept (POC) development including process documentation.
  • Progress reporting with tollgate and milestone tracking.
  • Fixture and signage coordination.

During execution, the Pivotal team provided the following:

  • Real-time, 24-hour issue management.
  • Issue resolution.
  • Root cause analysis
  • Onsite leadership.
  • Documentation of Best Practices.

Overall, THD saw an increase in project execution efficiency and reduced capital spend.

  • Transit costs were reduced by 50%.
  • First time completion increased to 92%.
  • VOTA was created and implemented.
  • Store touches were reduced from 30 to 10 per year.

Pivotal became the centralized point of contact and the results were tremendous for both companies.
